Our sustainability approach
AXTER enhances its growth thanks to a focus on improving its industrial performance while still adhering to its environmental and social values.
✔️ DEVELOPING THE COMPANY’S BUSINESS PERFORMANCE:
- By developing many products that are beneficial for the environment or for the building occupant: thermal inertia and comfort, pollution reduction, improved air quality, ease and safety of installation with solutions and products that are free of volatile compounds, water retention, etc
- By opting for ISO 14001-certified production modes since 2021, with the least possible impact on the environment and with an eye to continuous improvement.
✔️ ACTING TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT
- By embarking on a sustainability approach with 100% recycling of our production waste.
- By responding to the environmental and health aspects of our products through use of France’s Environmental and Safety Data Sheet (FDES).
Since January 1, 2023, a new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policy has been in effect for building products and materials.
Building product manufacturers are required to take responsibility for the end of life of their products.
To this end, several eco-organisations have been created. Their main tasks include:
- Organising the collection of construction waste
- Developing recycling channels
- Strengthening the territorial network of collection points
In this context, IKO Axter has chosen to join the Valobat eco-organization.

Zoom: Recycle waste!
The manufacture of waterproofing membranes generates waste and AXTER gives them a second life… on our roads. After various grinding phases to be transformed into granules, they are sold to a COLAS production unit which manufactures road asphalt to which they will provide a portion of bituminous binder and polymers.
